El Paso County has recently implemented a series of advanced AI-powered self-service kiosks, with the stated objective of improving access to court and other county services across the region. Notably, some of these kiosks have been placed in locations such as Fort Bliss, the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, and county annex buildings, to exponentially broaden service availability to communities that have historically faced access challenges, as reported by KTSM.
Equipped to handle multiple languages, these kiosks offer a variety of services, including court hearing schedule lookups, secure payment options for obligations such as juvenile probation, county tax, and child support, and access to frequently asked questions. "We're taking bold steps to make government more accessible," El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego told Kiosk Marketplace. The kiosks also feature live telepresence support, allowing users to virtually connect to county staff for assistance. The integration of AI technology is designed to enhance user interactions and service responses over time.
Highlighting a specific location, Fort Bliss recently unveiled its kiosk to help streamline court-related processes for military members and their families. According to KFOX-TV, services available through the kiosk include assistance with obtaining marriage licenses, birth certificates, and library cards. In a nod towards the military community, Samaniego expressed his hope that these kiosks would save soldiers' trips downtown, thus fostering a continued relationship with veterans and active-duty families.
