An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that unfolded at an apartment complex on 515 Broadway early in the morning of November 1, 2024. Damyen Lee Marshall Peterson was taken into custody for the reported shooting where shots were fired as people were leaving the premises around 1:30 a.m. Although there have been no reported injuries from the incident, the arrest follows a collaborative investigation effort between the Eugene Police Department (EPD) and Springfield Police Department (SPD).
The investigation, leading to Peterson's identification as the main suspect in February, culminated with EPD entering an 'attempt to locate' into law enforcement systems. According to a statement from EPD, Peterson was located by SPD this morning, he was transported to EPD headquarters by an EPD patrol before being lodged at Lane County Jail. Facing serious charges, Peterson's list includes two counts of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and three counts of Reckless Endangering.
