Drivers traveling on I-75 through Clayton and Fulton counties this weekend should anticipate possible delays due to planned lane and ramp closures. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has scheduled these closures as part of an ongoing resurfacing project designed to improve road conditions and extend pavement life. The work is part of a larger $46 million initiative, with completion targeted for summer 2025, addressing deterioration along this major transportation corridor.

According to the official announcement from Clayton County, the work began last Friday and is scheduled to continue through tomorrow. During this period, drivers can expect detours and delays. On the southbound side between University Avenue and I-285, two right lanes remain closed. Northbound lanes are also impacted, with three right lanes shut down between I-285 and University Avenue. Single-lane closures are in place on several on- and off-ramps as well.

Motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes or adjust travel times to avoid delays. Real-time updates on the project and traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 mobile app.
