The FBI is revisiting the small town of Flora, Indiana, seeking fresh information regarding the tragic house fire that took the lives of four young sisters nearly nine years ago. The bureau is urging residents to come forward with any details that could aid in the ongoing investigation into the fatal arson, as reported by FOX59. The fire, which broke out on November 21, 2016, resulted in the deaths of Keyana Davis, 11; Keyara Phillips, 9; Kerriele McDonald, 7; and Kionnie Welch, 5.
Authorities have been actively pursuing leads, yet the perpetrator remains at large. According to WISH-TV, the FBI is not only re-interviewing previous contacts but also is reaching out to new informants who might hold pivotal, previously unshared information. "If you saw, heard, or were told anything at the time of the fire – or have been since – please come forward and allow us to evaluate your information," the agency urged.
The single survivor of the fire, Gaylin Rose, lost all four of her daughters in the blaze and has since pressed for further investigation. While a civil lawsuit was settled in October 2023 with the landlord’s company, the criminal case remains open. The mother has been excluded as a suspect, former Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter confirmed last year, in a statement obtained by FOX59.
Residents are being consulted again, to glean small recollections which could, when pieced together, paint a broader picture leading to justice. "Something you remember could help, even if it seems small," the FBI stated on social media, as echoed by WRTV. They added emphatically that nothing is considered insignificant in the pursuit of closure for a case that has marred the memory of a family and an entire community.
The FBI encourages citizens to submit tips through their website at tips.fbi.gov or to call at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) with the possibility to remain anonymous. The hope is that with renewed attention and the aid of public input, a resolution to this long-standing case might finally be within reach.
