One individual, bustling with the morning routine, needed a rescue as the fire surrounded them on the third floor. San Francisco Fire Department paramedics treated the person for non-life-threatening injuries after rescue. Another occupant, attempting a dramatic escape, leapt from a third-story window, landing, fortunately, on a neighboring rooftop. While uninjured, emergency services helped this individual off the rooftop, avoiding a trip to the hospital, the department's update showed.
Investigations have since determined that an electric mobility device battery, specifically a lithium-ion battery, was the accidental cause of the fire. The fire's origins, although technological, have disrupted human lives, leaving two individuals displaced from what one could assume was once a place they called home.
