The Folsom Public Library will host a blood drive in partnership with Vitalant on August 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is part of ongoing efforts to support the need for blood donations, according to the City of Folsom.
A blood drive organized by Vitalant will take place at 411 Stafford Street. Participants are required to bring a photo ID and are encouraged to eat and hydrate before donating. Appointments can be made online or by calling 877-258-4825 and using the code SMFD327. Walk-in donors will be accepted based on availability, as reported by the City of Folsom.
Donors can check their eligibility by calling Vitalant at 800-289-4923 or visiting their website, which also provides details about 'Power Red' donations that collect more red cells in one visit. Individuals 16 years and older can donate, with parental consent required for minors, and there is no upper age limit. The donation process takes about an hour, with the blood draw lasting 5 to 7 minutes. Donors at the Folsom library will receive a Vitalant T-shirt. The City of Folsom noted, "Know the hour you give can help save a life!"
