The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) recently took into custody Jessica Steele, a former employee at Callaway Resort and Gardens, on allegations of theft. Steele, a 42-year-old from Hamilton, faces a charge for Theft by Taking after the GBI was asked to join the case by the Pine Mountain Police Department.
Details released indicate that Steele is accused of having illegally siphoned off over $90,000 in funds from Callaway Resort and Gardens during her tenure from January 1, 2020, to January 28, 2022. The GBI's investigation, resulting from a local police request made on February 1, 2022, led to Steele voluntarily turning herself in on July 14. Following her arrest, she was booked and has since bonded out of Harris County Jail.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's statement, they are continuing to pursue the investigation and are currently seeking any additional information that the public might have regarding the case. They are accepting tips which can be reported to the GBI Regional Office in Columbus.
