With summer heating up, families in Hialeah’s District 6 can feel a bit more at ease. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis has launched a new program offering free swimming lesson vouchers for local kids, helping them stay safe in the water.
Understandably, with Hialeah's proximity to all manner of aquatic temptations—from backyard pools to the broader, ever-luring coastline of South Florida—the need for swim savvy is critical, it’s a sentiment that Commissioner Orbis, a parent herself, echoes, “As a mother of two young children, I understand firsthand how critical it is for kids to learn how to swim—especially here in South Florida, where pools, canals, and coastlines are part of our everyday environment,” she said, as noted by the county's official website.
Launching the District 6 Hialeah Swimming Lesson Voucher Program, families within this Hialeah enclave can now apply for free swimming lesson vouchers, which are being issued on a basis as equitable as it is simple: first come, first served; these vouchers are redeemable at the local Babcock Park Pool, situated at a convenient central locale within the community at 651 E 4th Ave, Hialeah, FL 33010.
Parents hoping to take advantage of this opportunity are encouraged to act quickly, as registration opened just yesterday. In a statement shared on the official website, Commissioner Milian Orbis urges all eligible families to apply and not miss out: “Let’s give our children the confidence and skills they need to stay safe and make this summer unforgettable.”
Eligibility for the program is straightforward: participants must be residents of District 6 in Hialeah. Families can apply by filling out the registration form available on the official website or by calling (305) 267-6377 for more information.
