GBI Investigates Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in McDuffie County, GA

GBI agents are currently probing into an officer-involved shooting incident that transpired in McDuffie County, GA, following a request from the local Sheriff's Office. A 63-year-old man, Arval Gross of Thomson, was shot dead on the scene. The event resulted in no injuries among law enforcement personnel. This investigation responds to an altercation that occurred last Friday, at approximately 8:35 p.m., inside a house located on the 800 block of Leslie Street, as detailed by the GBI.

According to the GBI press release, deputies were called out to the residence following reports of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, a woman reported that Gross was inside the home. When they entered to engage with him, they found Gross in a hallway holding and subsequently raising a shotgun toward them. Two deputies discharged their weapons, fatally wounding Gross.

Gross was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, and no further details about the dispute or what precisely led to the shooting have been released. The GBI has disclosed that they will be conducting a thorough investigation into the shooting. The body of Mr. Gross is set to be transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, GA, for an autopsy to provide more clarity into the nature of his death.
