The Georgia Department of Corrections is starting a new chapter at Coffee Correctional Facility with the appointment of Lonnie Pritchett as Regional Operations Coordinator. Pritchett, who is leaving his current role as Superintendent at Bacon Probation Detention Center/Transitional Center, will assume his new responsibilities on July 16, the Georgia Department of Corrections reported.
According to the GDC Commissioner Tyrone Oliver, Pritchett's two decades of experience in corrections will anchor him in this leadership position. "During Lonnie's twenty-year tenure, he has gained an enormous amount of correctional knowledge," Oliver stated. As part of his new role at Coffee CF, Pritchett will monitor facility operations, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and maintaining standards for sanitation, safety, and security, as detailed by GDC.
Pritchett's corrections career began at Bacon PDC in 2005 as a Correctional Officer. Progressing through the ranks, he was promoted to Sergeant in 2009, and subsequently to Lieutenant at the Appling Integrated Treatment Facility in 2020. He secured a promotion to Assistant Superintendent in 2021, and another to Superintendent in 2023, the role he served in until this latest advancement.
In preparation for his evolving roles, Lonnie Pritchett underwent a diverse array of training programs. These included Basic Correctional Officer Training, Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Basic Management Training, Sergeant's Academy, Supervision I, II, and III, Lieutenant's Academy, and Assistant Superintendent Academy, the department outlined.
