The Germantown Police Department recently spotlighted one of their own through a social media post, introducing the community to Officer Deal, a dedicated member of the night shift patrol. Officer Deal, a 2.5-year veteran of the force, patrols District 3, a region that includes the vicinity of Cameron Brown Park. Her duties take place during the quiet, late-night hours when most of the city is asleep, but she stays alert and watchful, according to a recent social media post by the department.
Embracing the unique challenges that come with the nocturnal shift, Officer Deal has stated that "Night shift officers are thought about the least, but we’re incredibly important to the community," as reported by the Germantown Police Department. Her work includes specialties such as Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) certification and DUI detection, in addition to crime scene processing and drone operations. Deal is also part of the department's Drone Team, providing aerial support around twice a month to assist not only Germantown but also neighboring agencies.
Officer Deal's service is not just about maintaining peace during night hours; it's also about forging connection with the community. She finds joy in the small tokens of appreciation from Germantown’s residents, from food donations to handmade thank-you cards from local children.
