After months of uncertainty, police have made key arrests in the chilling murder case of Grant Siefert, a 30-year-old man whose body was discovered in a Glendale retention pond back in November 2024, FOX 10 Phoenix reports. The Glendale Police Department took 35-year-old Jonathan Vazquez into custody on charges of kidnapping and murder in the first degree, and 33-year-old Maricela Alexis Bahschnitt is also behind bars, although specific accusations against her remain undisclosed.
Details have emerged about Siefert's last known whereabouts, indicated he was potentially last seen near 19th Avenue and Bethany Home Road, and there was activity on his cellphone, AZ Family reveals; investigators following the trail of digital crumbs and surveillance footage placed both suspects at the crime scene, where Siefert's body was found face down on the ground with multiple stab wounds, he had been stabbed 22 times, in addition to 14 other cuts across his body, a medical examiner concluded, striking vital organs that ruled his death a homicide.
Amid the probe, a narrative is taking form; Siefert vanished on an ominous date in November last year, his corpse was discovered days later, Vazquez's girlfriend, who had managed Siefert at a Wendy's where an unexplained incident previously occurred, the Glendale Police disclosed Vazquez believed his girlfriend intended merely to intimidate Siefert due to threats he allegedly made against her, claiming ignorance of the actual killing in his assertion to the police.
Upon arrest, a bond of $1 million was set for Vazquez, FOX 10 Phoenix confirms, while information pertaining to a bond for Bahschnitt is not currently available; the investigation by the authorities is still open and continues, so it is undetermined if other individuals will be implicated in the tragic demise of Siefert.
