In a swift action by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), a suspect was apprehended on the same day of a shooting incident that left two individuals critically wounded. The IMPD shared details of the event in a social media post, which provided a timestamp and location of the incident that occurred on Tuesday, around 5:50 p.m.
According to the IMPD News post, officers arrived at the 100 block of S. Randolph Street moments after being dispatched, finding two male victims, one in the backyard with multiple gunshot wounds and another near a residence's front door with a single wound, here medics transported both individuals to Eskenazi Hospital in what was described as critical condition. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Paul Turner, was taken into custody without delay, thanks to the precise work of the responding officers.
IMPD's investigation, spearheaded by Aggravated Assault Detectives, unfolds with the collection of evidence including shell casings, a rifle, and a handgun by the Marion County Forensic Services Agency, and interviews with potential witnesses as well as canvassing for surveillance footage that may have captured the event. The social media update further clarifies that Paul Turner and one of the victims were believed to be acquainted, hinting at a potential motive rooted in a disturbance that escalated to the violent act.
