Motorists planning to travel through Interstate 30 should brace for a series of lane closures scheduled for the upcoming week starting next Monday, July 7, as construction crews engage in bridge activities and road maintenance efforts. The Rockwall County website has released details informing the public of the specific closures and the nature of the work to be performed, which includes bridge construction at multiple locations and road enhancements.
During the daytime hours from 9 AM to 3 PM, drivers will need to find alternate routes to supplant the closed U-turns at John King and FM 3549. Overnights from 9 PM to 5 AM are slated to see closures on the eastbound and westbound left lanes from FM 548 to FM 2642, disrupting the flow of late-night traffic due to bridge work at FM 35 and Sabine Creek. Traffic will also be impacted by flagging operations on FM 548 for drainage work, as well as embankment and removals along the frontage roads near SH 205 and T L Townsend Dr. Rockwall County assures that contractor crews will be coordinating with emergency services to ensure access through these closures in case of emergencies.
The construction activities are part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving driving conditions on Interstate 30. In addition to the planned closures, crews will also be working on embankment and removals between Fate Main PL and FM 3549 overnight on the westbound lanes, and during the day on the westbound frontage road at FM 3549, with the installation of silt fences and erosion control logs. Motorists can expect delays and are encouraged to plan accordingly to avoid being caught off guard by the disruptions.
