
On Tuesday morning in Milford, Massachusetts, local police received a bulletin from Medway Police regarding Giovanni Cardona, 44, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Cardona was wanted in Pima County, Arizona, in connection with a violent road rage shooting. According to a post by the Milford Police Department, Cardona had been seen driving a white Toyota Camry with Massachusetts livery plates.
Milford Police Detectives located the suspect vehicle approximately 20 minutes after receiving the alert. The white Toyota Camry was spotted traveling on East Main Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Main and Cedar Street, where Giovanni Cardona was taken into custody at 11:27 a.m. Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino commended the Medway Police Department for their cooperation, stating that inter-agency collaboration remains “one of our greatest strengths.”
Cardona was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and as a fugitive from justice. The arrest occurred without incident and marked the conclusion of a coordinated effort between Milford and Medway law enforcement agencies.
While details about the Arizona incident remain limited, Giovanni Cardona is currently in custody in Massachusetts. “The fact that our Detective Bureau located the vehicle within 20 minutes of receiving this information speaks volumes about the dedication and responsiveness of the men and women of the Milford Police Department,” said Chief Robert Tusino, according to a statement from the Milford Police Department.
