In a recent crackdown on property crime, the Knoxville Police Department, along with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Department of Corrections Parole and Probation, carried out a joint operation leading to the arrest of 11 individuals. This initiative, spanning over two days earlier this week, aimed to tackle pervasive property crimes and apprehend repeat offenders. The Knoxville Police Department reported that the teams were mobilized to track down and capture those with outstanding property-related warrants, particularly targeting those on parole or probation.
With meticulous planning, teams from both KPD and KCSO hit the streets to find these individuals whom detectives and crime analysts had previously identified. The result of their efforts was the capture of 11 wanted persons, amongst them were five charged with felony theft and three in violation of either parole or probation due to prior property crimes. During the operation, one of the arrests made was that of a 34-year-old, Zachary Littleton, who was wanted on eight different warrants, a mix of felony theft, evading arrest, and assault on a first responder.
Property crimes, as pointed out by KPD Deputy Chief and Investigations Bureau Commander Joe McHale, are a considerable threat to the community's quality of life and perception of safety. “Property crimes impact quality of life and the sense of safety in our community,” McHale said. “We take our mission to prevent those crimes and address the individuals who commit them seriously. I greatly appreciate our officers and partners for their collaborative and intentional efforts to plan and execute this operation, which will undoubtedly prevent future property crimes," he added, according to a report by the Knoxville Police Department.
