The streets of Knoxville are shaded with the somber news of a fatal shooting at an apartment complex on Howard Baker Jr. Avenue. The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) reported that they responded to the scene shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday morning to find the body of Michael Velazquez, 48, who had been shot at least once and was pronounced dead on site.
In their efforts to peel back the layers of this tragedy, Knoxville Police Department has identified 28-year-old Wayne Parham as the suspect who is not yet in custody and now stands charged with second-degree murder. According to an investigation by WVLT, the shooting is believed to have stemmed from an altercation between the suspect and the victim, marking a stark end to what had likely begun as just another Sunday morning.
Despite the suspect being at large, authorities are reaching out to the public for assistance. "Anyone with information regarding Parham's whereabouts is asked to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers anonymously," Knoxville Police Department announced, as reported by WVLT.
Anyone with information about the shooting, no matter how small, is urged to come forward. Tips can be shared anonymously by calling 865-215-7165 or **TIPS. You can also submit tips online, through a mobile app, or on social media. East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers says tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward, helping bring justice in the case, as per WATE.
