A LaGrange man, Preston Jones, is now detained after authorities conducted a search of his residence last Thursday, uncovering an attempt to sell an extensive collection of child pornography online. As FOX 5 Atlanta reports, the LaGrange Police were first alerted to Jones by the FBI's Violent Crimes Against Children Unit on June 25.
Charges laid against Jones include multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children, encompassing allegations of downloading, possessing, advertising, and trying to disseminate the illegal content, while an investigation indicated he acquired over two terabytes of such material which he planned to sell, according to details provided in the report by WTVM. The search warrant executed at the 900 block of Georgia Avenue was part of a coordinated effort involving the LaGrange Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, Uniformed Patrol Division, and the Cobb County Sheriff's office K-9 units.
With the current charges laid out, authorities actively seek the community's assistance in the ongoing case, urging anyone with information pertinent to Preston Jones or his activities to engage with investigators.
