A man has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident in Las Cruces, which left a victim critically wounded last month. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jeffrey L. Cruickshank, faces several felony charges, including two counts of attempted murder, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.

On the night of Monday, shortly after midnight, the attack unfolded along the 200 block of east Idaho Avenue where the 39-year-old victim, sitting in his car, was allegedly approached by Cruickshank who demanded the car keys and, after being refused, proceeded to stab the victim in the neck and arm forcing the man to flee and seek refuge in a nearby Walgreens store until he could be airlifted to a hospital, as per the Las Cruces Police Department.

Cruickshank, who was arrested on June 23 for unrelated charges, now faces additional charges including aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, the arrest warrant about the stabbing was served on June 30 while he was already in custody, he remains detained without bond at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
