The City of Lawrence is rolling up its sleeves for some deep cleaning, but instead of dust bunnies, they'll be tackling the less-glamorous but critical sanitary sewers in the East Hill and West Hill Drive area, according to an announcement made by the City of Lawrence on their official website. Scheduled to start next Monday, the project is estimated to span over three weeks, where residents can expect crews between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., ensuring our subterranean infrastructure remains in shipshape.
Routine maintenance is the game, and high pressure is the name—or rather, high pressure cleaning and video inspections designed to prolong the life of the pipe system, it's all part of the city's strategy to provide reliable service and, the end goal is a well-functioning sewer system that doesn't end up causing a stink, and speaking of which, residents should not be alarmed if an odd smell wafts through their homes during this period, it's just one of the temporary side effects of this necessary upkeep process.
While the city doesn't foresee any complications, precautionary advice has been issued for those living in the affected area: keep that toilet lid closed to avoid unwanted geysers and pour a quart of water down your drains if they start channeling Eau de Sewer.
As always, interruptions to daily routines may occur with potential traffic restrictions, the city asks for a little patience and cooperation during this time; for any queries or concerns, Lawrence Utilities is just a call away at 317-524-6303.
