In a recent operation by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (CCSO SAR), a small dog was discovered steadfast by its deceased owner in a remote desert area in Arizona. The rescue team, while on a recovery operation several miles north of Muleshoe Ranch, encountered the scene and found the dog, initially skittish but eventually secured by the determined rescuers. FOX 10 Phoenix reported that the owner's circumstances at the time of death, including how they arrived at the remote location, remain unknown.
A post on CCSO SAR's Facebook page detailed the incident, "The circumstances are unknown on how they got there and why they were there. However a small dog was located with the decedent stayed with the vehicle. Initially it ran off, but the team was determined to save it and were able to catch it," a testament to the tenacity of the search team and the bond between pet and owner. This isn't an isolated case, as such displays of pets' loyalty have been witnessed before, as mentioned by the search and rescue team.
After the operation, the canine was taken to a local shelter where it is currently receiving necessary care.
