A 20-year-old man is in custody after an incident involving a discharged firearm aimed at Cincinnati police officers. This tense encounter took place in the English Woods neighborhood, specifically at the Shelton Garden Apartments, where officers were responding to a trespassing complaint, as reported by Local 12.
The sequence of events unfolded when officers, addressing the complaint, approached a vehicle. A man then abruptly exited the vehicle and, in a bid to evade law enforcement, fled on foot. The police pursuit escalated quickly, and during the chase, officers deployed their tasers unsuccessfully as the man turned and fired a shot in their direction, police said. Despite the potential danger, no injuries were reported in the incident, neither to the officers involved nor to the individual whose name has not yet been released to the public.
The location of the incident has also been identified as 2000 Westwood Northern Boulevard in East Westwood, where a trespassing investigation initially led officers to the scene. FOX19 disclosed that during the face-off between the officer and the suspect, the latter produced a gun and discharged a single round. Fortunately, the shot did not strike the officer.
Sergeant Anthony Mitchell detailed the confrontation to FOX19, saying, "The responding officer attempted to tase the suspect when he pulled a gun and fired one shot at the officer." The police were able to take the suspect into custody shortly after the incident, and they have said the gun involved was recovered.
