The Atlanta Police Department has since reported the arrest of 36-year-old Maurice Walker in connection to the event, charging him with Simple Assault. According to the official statement released by the department, Mr. Walker, the injured party, had sustained his injury under circumstances that remain the subject of an active investigation.
Initially, the Atlanta Police Department found Walker wounded at the scene after responding to reports of a shooting at around 8:28 PM, near 585 McDaniel Street SW. Investigators from the Aggravated Assault Unit subsequently took charge, trying to piece together the narrative that led to the shooting. "Upon arrival, officers located a 36-year-old male who sustained an apparent gunshot wound to his abdomen. The male was alert, conscious, breathing, and was transported to the hospital for treatment," the department revealed. Yet, the context in which the violence was rooted, they say, has been tougher to discern; the passage of time does not always bring clarity.
Walker, after receiving necessary medical attention, will find his next location of recovery behind bars at the Fulton County Jail. At this stage, the authorities have not released further details on the identity of the shooter, nor on the potential charges that might stem from the incident's investigation, which remains ongoing.
