Yesterday, a man lost his life in a vehicular collision that ended in a fiery spectacle. According to the San José Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Berryessa Road and Summerpark Court following a call about a solo vehicle collision involving a 2001 black Ford truck.
The initial findings indicate that the Ford truck was moving westbound on Berryessa Road at what was described as a "high rate of speed." The chain of events leading to the crash commenced when another vehicle suddenly changed lanes in front of the truck, prompting the driver to swerve drastically to avoid an impact. This evasive maneuver caused the truck to lose control and veer into the center divide, colliding with a tree. Notably, no contact was made between the two vehicles prior to the Ford truck's collision. Firefighters responded swiftly to the scene and managed to extricate the driver, whose injuries were severe enough to later prove fatal after being transported to a local hospital.
This incident marks the 19th fatal collision in San José for the year 2025, a grim tally that parallels the number of traffic-related deaths recorded in the city thus far. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and will be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner at a later time.
