Independence Day celebrations in Memphis were marred by violence as a man sustained serious injuries following a shooting in Orange Mound. The Memphis Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:11 p.m. yesterday, with the incident occurring in a parking lot on Park Avenue near the Orange Mound neighborhood, as reported by WREG.
A man, now identified as the sole victim of the shooting, was taken to the hospital in critical condition, found across the road on Carson Street where the property had also been damaged by bullets. Multiple suspects are believed to have fled on foot heading north on Carson Street, according to a statement obtained by FOX13 Memphis. While two men have been detained in connection to the incident, it remains unclear how many suspects may still be at large.
