Residents and visitors on Piedmont Avenue witnessed a disturbing disruption of peace in broad daylight earlier this week. According to an Atlanta Police Department report, a male victim was shot in the leg following a heated exchange with another male suspect on 180 Piedmont Ave SE. The incident occurred around 1:34 pm on July 26, and police were called to the scene shortly after.
The first responders found the victim conscious and administered immediate first aid. The injured man was then transported to a local hospital where he remained aware of his surroundings and able to speak with medical personnel. Initial information suggests the victim was heading southbound when approached by the assailant, specifics of their verbal altercation remain unclear, however, it quickly escalated to violence. The suspect, who was armed with a gun, shot the victim and then fled before officers arrived on the scene.
The Atlanta Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting.
