A man was stabbed in downtown Portland over the weekend in what police described as an unprovoked attack. According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), the incident occurred last Saturday morning near Southwest 4th Avenue and Alder Street. Arriving officers found the victim on the sidewalk, suffering from a chest injury.
Simultaneously, another violent altercation unfolded blocks away, where an individual brandishing a stick threatened passersby. This suspect subsequently attacked a person emerging from a pickup truck along Southwest 2nd Avenue, as reported by KOIN. The altercation ended when police deployed a Taser to subdue the suspect.
The stabbing victim received emergency trauma first aid from officers until paramedics took over, providing advanced care and transporting the individual to the hospital. Fortunately, his injuries were not considered life-threatening, as stated by authorities in an interview with KATU News. The assailant managed to evade immediate capture, leaving the crime scene before law enforcement's arrival, and the investigation remains ongoing.
