An altercation in the early hours of Sunday in Atlanta escalated into violence when a man was stabbed outside of a well-known shopping and entertainment district, according to local authorities.
The Atlanta Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at 65 Alabama Street SW, near Underground Atlanta, around 4 a.m. Atlanta News First reported that a 32-year-old male had sustained a wound to his stomach. While he was not alert, he was found conscious and breathing and was quickly transported to Grady Hospital for medical attention.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the confrontation that led to the stabbing. As of now, no arrests have been made and the details surrounding the incident are still unfolding. Authorities are urging anyone with information about that night's events to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
A spokesperson from Underground Atlanta provided a statement regarding the matter, asserting that they are cooperating with law enforcement. "We are aware of the incident that occurred on Upper Alabama Street in the early hours of July 13.
