A shootout at the H.E. Holmes MARTA station yesterday morning resulted in one man being shot in the foot and two suspects fleeing the scene. The incident disrupted the commute for passengers as MARTA limited rail service to the westbound platform to conduct an investigation. The violence erupted on the concourse level of the station, located near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW and Peyton Road SW.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the shootout involved three individuals and occurred around 9 a.m. Preliminary findings suggested that the three men exchanged gunfire, leading to one of them being wounded. Police confirmed that the injured man will face charges related to the shooting. In the scramble following the gunfire, the other two individuals managed to escape and are being actively sought by law enforcement.
