Residents and commuters in Memphis are advised to prepare for a two-day traffic detour, as the City of Memphis has announced urgent sewer repair work on East Shady Grove Road. According to a notification on the City of Memphis' official website, the affected stretch is between South Shady Grove Road and Humphreys Boulevard and will be closed on July 10-11, 2025.
The detour planned, signing off on East Shady Grove Road, will make use of Brierview Street, Walnut Grove Road, and Humphreys Boulevard. Although through traffic will be prohibited during this period, local traffic will still be able to access East Shady Grove Road up to the point of closure. The setup is designed to maintain access for local residents to adjacent properties throughout the construction period, facilitating at least a semblance of normalcy amidst the disruptions.
This necessary infrastructure maintenance is a project overseen by the City of Memphis Division of Public Works.
