Memphis sees its fair share of unusual crime, but a recent theft adds a new dimension to the list. On the morning of July 14, a theft at 2129 East Person Avenue resulted in two trailers disappearing from a business lot, according to the Memphis Police Department. Preliminary reports indicate that the crime involved three individuals who managed to infiltrate the premises through a breach in the perimeter.
Entering the business through a fence opening, described by police as being on the southeast side, the duo initially targeted parked vehicles, securing items within them. Subsequently, they coordinated with a third suspect who drove up in a white Ford 350 van—its origins traceable to a theft several days earlier from Rentals of America. Together, they loaded up an enclosed trailer and a twelve-foot utility trailer, which both then vanished into the morning.
Investigators have noted that the suspects were industrious in their efforts to obscure the van's identity, stripping it of most identifying decals and its registration tag. The van’s description has been circulated in hopes that the public might spot it and provide crucial tips that can lead to the recovery of the stolen property and arrest of the suspects.
In response to the theft, authorities are calling on anyone with information to come forward. "Anyone with information about this incident should call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH," pleads the official statement from the police, urging community vigilance. While the suspects remain at large, having taken considerable measures to avoid identification, tips from the public often prove to be the linchpin in such investigations.
