According to Memphis police, the incident occurred on July 9, 2025, at 7:55 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the scene after a report of gunfire. A male, later found to have suffered a gunshot wound to the groin, was dropped off at Regional One for treatment.
Investigators have been poring through video evidence. The suspect, seen hanging out of a black sedan and more elusive than a whisper in the wind, fired several shots from the passenger window. The perpetrator has been described as a Black male with a skinny build, believed to be between 20-25 years old. After the shooting, the suspect's vehicle was observed heading eastbound on Chelsea Avenue.
Violence of this nature leaves a community on edge, wary of the unexpected permeation of the ominous into their daily lives. The department, in its continued efforts to locate the suspect, is asking for public assistance. They highlight the importance of community involvement in such cases and are calling for anyone with information to come forward.
