The Memphis Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened last Wednesday evening at a Family Dollar on South Third Street, showing that crime can happen anywhere in the city. The suspect, seen on surveillance footage, is still at large after stealing a small amount of money, leaving the community with questions and concern.
According to the official police report, at 7:06 p.m. on July 23, an individual entered the discount store, brandishing a two-tone handgun and demanding cash from an employee. After obtaining approximately $110, the masked assailant fled on foot, disappearing into the twilight of the urban landscape. The suspect is described as a thin Black male, whom the police estimate to be between the ages of 18 and 24, and standing between 5'6" and 5'9". His attire consisted of a black ski mask, a jacket with blue and red accents, light-colored jeans, a black T-shirt, and, black shoes.
The Memphis Police Department is reaching out to the community, seeking assistance in apprehending the individual behind the robbery. They urge anyone with information that could lead to an arrest to make a decisive call to Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
