Early this morning, residents of an Opa-locka neighborhood were met with the unsettling sight of a heavy police operation. Law enforcement agencies, including the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office and the Miami Gardens Police Department, descended upon a home along Curtiss Drive. According to NBC6, the presence was in response to a homicide warrant being served.
Video obtained by the news showed officers in tactical gear entering the residence and subsequently escorting at least three men from the premises. However, the identity of the individuals for whom the warrant was intended remains unconfirmed by the sheriff's office. Additionally, a tactical truck was parked conspicously in front of the residence.
Locals were taken aback by the scene unfolding in their typically quiet enclave. "I never knew anything like that could happen this close to home. It’s very scary," neighbor Lasonia Campbell told NBC6. Similarly, Luis Lopez expressed his own unease to the same outlet: "I froze for a second cause I was outside next to the car putting things inside and they passed right next to me."
The operation attracted attention from various quarters, with neighbors and passersby alike witnessing the event. “I didn’t see anything, just a bunch of cops coming by and ending up in a house where I know the people," another neighbor, also named Luis Lopez, remarked in an interview with Local 10. The agencies involved have not disclosed much information about the raid or the specifics concerning custody of the individuals involved, maintaining the veil of uncertainty around the incident.
While the details still remain sparse, Local 10 confirms that multiple conversations took place between undercover agents and gathered individuals outside the house in question.
