Miami-Dade County just scored a big win in the tech world, securing the 5th spot in the prestigious 2025 Digital Counties Survey. Climbing four ranks since last year, the county is making strides in tech utilization, impressing folks across the nation. The survey, a joint effort by the Center for Digital Government (CDG), Government Technology magazine, and the National Association of Counties (NACo), highlights Miami-Dade in the category of counties with populations of one million or more, according to an official release from Miami-Dade County.
In a clear nod to Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, the county's higher standing is said to reflect her approach to "Working Innovatively, Strategically and Efficiently" (WISE). According to the county's recent report, Dr. Carladenise Edwards, Chief Administrative Officer and Interim Director of the Information Technology Department for Miami-Dade County, remarked, “This recognition, and the significant advancement in our national ranking, is a reflection of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava’s commitment to governing WISE: Working Innovatively, Strategically and Efficiently.” The upshot is a more robust government service, better affordability, and a stronger, more resilient Miami-Dade.
The Digital Counties Survey, now in its 23rd year, showcases the counties that excel in leveraging technology to amp up public services. It's a deep dive into how well counties align IT strategies with overarching government goals to deliver tangible, measurable gains. And Miami-Dade's IT department doesn't play in isolation. It collaborates with all county departments to integrate tech solutions that promise operational efficiency, savings, and spiffier services for folks running the show, the workforce, and the everyday resident.
The Center for Digital Government (CDG) is a national group that focuses on IT policies and best practices for state and local governments. It provides research, benchmarks, and recognition programs to support innovation and leadership in the public sector.
