In a bid to strengthen maritime response along one of Miami-Dade County's most trafficked waterways, a freshly minted Marine Patrol Vessel is set to join the fleet. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and Commissioner Micky Steinberg of District 4 will introduce the new addition to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Intracoastal District, Marine Patrol Unit, today. According to a press release, this move is poised to support local, state, and federal rescue missions, indicating a broader reach in the county's maritime operations.
The deployment of the Marine Patrol Vessel will not only aim to enhance patrol capabilities but also to significantly bolster the Haulover area's marine law enforcement readiness. The vessel's launch is scheduled for today from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Haulover Boat Ramp, located at 15600 Collins Avenue. To boost transparency and community engagement, media representatives have been warmly invited to witness the vessel's inauguration.
Acquiring this patrol vessel comes as a strategic initiative to ensure safety and efficient law enforcement on the water. The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit is responsible for patrolling a particularly busy stretch of waterway, and their expanded capabilities are expected to have an immediate impact. The office and its officers are to quickly integrate the vessel into their daily operations, providing an uptick in response times and an expanded scope of interventions, as mentioned on the county's official website.
