
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault in Midvale, leading to the death of a woman outside a local high school. The woman was later pronounced dead at Alta View Hospital, according to KUTV. Unified Police Department reported the arrest of 31-year-old Leituono Falaniko following his admission of the assault, with the incident coming to light after the victim was brought in with severe injuries.
After the victim, whose identity has yet to be publicly disclosed, suffered a sudden onset of chest pains and breathing troubles at the hospital, she collapsed and was declared deceased by hospital staff. As stated by an affidavit, the information was made available by KSL. Surveillance video from the hospital pinpointed Falaniko as the individual who dropped the woman off at the facility. He did not assist her into the hospital and immediately left the scene after she exited the vehicle.
Further investigations into the incident unfolded as officers conducted surveillance at Falaniko's residence where he was found with a gym bag appearing to wait for a ride, his apprehension subsequently took place, and during the interaction with the police Falaniko disclosed that he lived with the victim and the fight between them had escalated to physical violence, he admitted to the authorities during their interaction as per ABC4.
