The streets of Milford, Massachusetts, became the unlikely setting for a brief chase on Tuesday afternoon, when local police responded to a complaint about a moped being driven erratically. According to a social media post from the Milford Police Department, around 3:15 p.m., authorities were alerted by a caller reporting a helmetless male nearly colliding with their vehicle on Whitney Street.
Shortly after the report, Milford officers spotted two males on South Bow Street, one fitting the suspect's description. As an officer attempted to approach, the pair dropped the moped in the middle of Claflin Street. They were later observed fleeing the scene on foot, leaping over a fence near the Blair House. The subsequent chain of events led to the arrest of a 19-year-old and a juvenile near the tracks off Central Street at around 3:58 PM.
Pedro Ferreira Da Silva, identified as the 19-year-old, now faces multiple charges. He was reportedly charged for walking/riding trespass on a railroad track, operating with a suspended license, and driving an unregistered as well as uninsured motor vehicle. The Milford Police Department has stated that "all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law" and offered a point of contact for additional inquiries referring directly to Officer JCovino.
