The City of Minneapolis Health Department is inviting locals to immerse themselves in the vibrant cultural tapestry of North Minneapolis at the Northside Art Exhibit + Community Fest. A celebration of BIPOC artists and storytellers, the event aims to showcase the rich narratives woven through the community. According to a recent social media post by the City of Minneapolis Health Department, the festivity will include an art exhibit with original pieces by local artists Charles Caldwell, Jearica Fountain, Kevin Martinez, Philipo Dyauli, and Asa-Azriel “Ace” Rice.
The showcase will delve into five central themes: connection, resilience, and place, as told by the community members themselves. The outdoor community fest, branded as the Stories of Connection Northside Community Fest, will offer a suit of activities aimed at fun, healing, and joy. Participants can engage in fishing, biking—where equipment will be provided—forest bathing, and numerous art projects.
This free and inclusive gathering is not just about showcasing art; it is an embodiment of community spirit. The fest prides itself on being accessible to all ages and abilities, encouraging a sense of belonging and community healing. The emphasis is clear—"This event is by the community, for the community—and everyone is welcome," as noted in the announcement.
Outdoor adventurers and creative spirits alike are invited to partake in experiences from fishing and bike rides to forest bathing and healing crafts. A relaxing massage chair, face painting, and an obstacle course also find their way into the lineup, alongside snacks and more nature-inspired activities. It's a day when the boundless energy of Minneapolis's Northside is expected to be on full display, welcoming neighbors into the fold for shared experiences and creative expression.
