The Minneapolis Police Department's K9 Unit has reason to hold their tails high after swooping in and fetching a bunch of accolades at the United States Police Canine Association’s National Field Trials. In what turned out to be quite the competitive showing in Winona, the MPD’s four-legged team members shone through, making a clean sweep in several categories.
According to a celebratory post on the MPD's Facebook page, all 10 of their K9 teams that took part qualified to compete at the national level. The outcome was a gold medal haul that included '1st Place Overall Individual,' 'Top Overall Region Team,' and two more titles in Obedience — '1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place' to be exact.
The commendation doesn't just stop there: They also sniffed out a '4th Place Overall' finish, were deemed the 'Top Overall Department Team,' nailed '1st Place Evidence Recovery,' and dug up a '2nd Place Suspect Search.'
"We’re incredibly proud of our K9 Unit and their continued excellence in service and competition," the post beams.
