The search for an 86-year-old Kenner man who had been reported missing came to a close when authorities located him safe over the weekend. Manuel Sobrino, who was last seen leaving his home on Thursday night, July 10, around 11:30 p.m., has been found and the Silver Alert previously issued has been cancelled, as reported by the Louisiana State Police.
It was after Sobrino, described as a Hispanic male weighing about 130 pounds and standing 5′7″ tall, did not return home, that the Kenner Police Department asked the state law enforcement to swiftly to issue a Silver Alert. Sobrino has a medical condition that could impair his judgment, making his disappearance particularly concerning. WDSU News further details that he was wearing a black ball cap, a gray and white long-sleeved shirt, and khaki pants when he was last seen.
Information from WWLTV indicated that Sobrino was believed to have been on his black bicycle with a basket at the time of his disappearance. The Kenner Police Department recognized the urgency of the situation, prompting the Silver Alert to be issued by the State Police on Friday evening, approximately 20 hours after he was discovered missing.
The coordinated efforts between the Kenner Police Department and the Louisiana State Police resulted in the successful location of Sobrino. "According to police Sobrino has been found safe," says WDSU News. The specific details surrounding Sobrino's whereabouts during the time he was missing and how he was eventually found have not been released. Family and local residents were relieved to learn of Sobrino's safe return, as community concern had heightened following the initial report of his disappearance.
