Relief has come for the family of Inzinga Barge, the 24-year-old Arizona woman who disappeared in Atlanta while attending a concert, as Atlanta Police confirmed her safety yesterday. Barge had traveled from Arizona to Atlanta back on June 6 to attend a performance by artist Lil Baby, only to vanish after the event, leading to an arduous search by family and authorities. Her last known contact had been on June 15, when she was unexpectedly removed from her family's group chat, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
Barge's disappearance raised serious concern after her phone was found abandoned near the City of Atlanta Jail on June 24. The case gained new attention when a man claiming to be her ex-boyfriend came forward after charging the phone, saying he was aware of the missing person report filed by her family. Despite the woman's mother, Kenya, having previously spoken of hospitalization for a mental health crisis from June 8 to June 16 at Grady Memorial Hospital, the family was left in a void without knowledge of Barge's whereabouts before her admittance or after her subsequent discharge, according to a narrative provided by 11Alive.
In a turn of events late Tuesday night, the family was tipped off to possible sightings of Barge, who was eventually located by Georgia Tech security, found lying on a bench in distress before being returned to Grady Hospital for care. "Obviously [we're] relieved. She's been missing for over 22 days, and we are happy that Sergeant Hill was able to get to the scene and get her to safety, but obviously, it's been a bit of a struggle trying to get any information on where she might have been," her sister, Addis Barge, told 11Alive in the aftermath of the discovery.
The circumstances surrounding Barge’s whereabouts and the events during her weeks-long disappearance remain unclear. Atlanta Police have not released any additional information about the case.
