The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is set to host an in-person meeting to discuss bridge deck replacement projects for two aging structures in Morgan and Moniteau Counties. The meeting aimed at gathering community feedback is an open invitation for locals to weigh in on the plans, putting forth their comments, concerns, and suggestions.
Planned rehabilitation efforts pertain to the Morgan County Route W bridge over Indian Creek and the Moniteau County Route CC bridge over South Moreau Creek, built in 1965 and 1966 respectively. Although their support structures remain stable, the bridge decks are in need of urgent replacement due to significant wear. MoDOT anticipates construction to commence in 2026, announcing intended detours that would affect Route W and Route CC during the construction phase.
Community members will have the chance to interface directly with the project team at the Moreau Fire Protection District Station 4 in Barnett, on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. "Attendees may come and go as they please at any time," according to MoDOT, without the constraint of a formal presentation. Details of the bridge projects will begin being available online starting July 31, for those who prefer virtual engagement.
Further public input is encouraged through a comment period spanning from July 31 to Aug. 14. Comments can be submitted via an online form on the project's webpage, emailing [email protected], or through conventional mail addressed to Cole County's Route 179 Bridge Deck Replacement over Rock Creek. All inputs must be received, or postmarked by August 14 to ensure they are considered in the planning process.
MoDOT has taken steps to ensure inclusivity at the upcoming event by arranging accommodations for all participants when requested by Aug. 1. Reach out to MoDOT at 573-522-5178 or via email for any such needs.
