Heads up, Cole County residents and Route 179 drivers—MoDOT wants your input on the upcoming bridge deck replacement over Rock Creek. Built in 1936, the bridge has held up, but the driving surface needs repair. Construction is set for 2026, and MoDOT wants to hear from the community before work begins.

The bridge structure is still in good shape, but the surface needs work. To fix it, Route 179 will be closed during construction, with detours in place. MoDOT is inviting locals to share their input at an in-person meeting on July 29 at Centertown City Hall. Stop by anytime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to talk with the project team and share your thoughts.

If you can’t make it in person, you can still share your thoughts during a two-week comment period starting July 22. Submit feedback online, email [email protected], or mail it to MoDOT’s Jefferson City office. Just be sure to send comments by August 5.

The July 29 open house won’t have any long presentations. It’s a drop-in event for anyone who wants information or wants to share thoughts on the Route 179 bridge project. If you can’t attend, MoDOT will post the meeting materials online starting July 22. Those needing accommodations or translation services should contact MoDOT by July 25 so arrangements can be made.
