
A mother and her teenage daughter were injured in an apartment fire on Friday night in Houston's Sharpstown area. The fire happened at a residence on Dunlap and has been confirmed as arson by the Houston Fire Department, according to CW39.
Firefighters initially responded to an assault call but found a three-story building on fire. "They arrived on scene and found a three-story building on fire," CW39 reports. Five people were rescued, including a woman and her 13-year-old daughter, who were taken to Texas Children's Hospital. The fire is being investigated as a case of arson.
A person escaped a fire by jumping from a balcony, and the suspected arsonist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Firefighters controlled the fire quickly despite difficulties with the water supply, and no firefighters were injured. The suspect’s identity has not been released. “We don’t yet know what led up to the fire,” as mentioned by KHOU. The cause and motive of the fire are under investigation.
