A serious collision in Pacific Beach has left one man hospitalized with a severe head injury. The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) reports that the accident took place last night at the intersection of Ingraham Street and La Mancha Drive. According to the official statement released by the department, a 20-year-old female was driving a silver 2013 Toyota Corolla when a 61-year-old male struck her on a green Kawasaki off-road motorcycle.
The SDPD Watch Commander, Officer J. Perales, provided details of the incident, stating that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Ingraham Street at unsafe speeds before the collision. As the woman attempted to turn left onto La Mancha Drive, she was broadsided by the motorcycle. Area video cameras captured the event, thereby confirming the high speed of the motorcycle at the time of the crash.
Emergency services rushed the injured motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, to a local hospital due to serious head injuries sustained from being ejected upon impact. The current condition of the motorcyclist has not been disclosed, but the injuries have been categorized as serious.
The SDPD Traffic Division is actively handling the ongoing investigation of this incident. The authorities have urged anyone with further information about this collision to come forward. Officer Perales encourages witnesses or those with potentially helpful details to call the Traffic Division or to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
