An inmate from Davidson County has been slapped with new charges after detectives say he sent a series of threatening letters to multiple Nashville judges. The inmate, identified as Phaitoon Sean Viryasiri, age 50, was already serving time for probation violations linked to prior felony assault and burglary convictions since last October.
Charged with targeting Criminal Court Judge Khadija Babb, the threats were supposedly Viryasiri's idea of retribution for past court decisions. According to a report from the Nashville government's official news, the retaliation against Judge Babb has been classified as a Class E felony. As for the nature of the correspondence, while the details have not been publicly disclosed, the communication carried enough weight to warrant legal action.
Moreover, Viryasiri didn't limit his alleged written rage to just one judge. He's accused of sending similar menacing letters to three other members of the judiciary between June 20 and June 30—Judges Angelita Blackshear Dalton, Cynthia Chappell, and Ana Escobar of the Criminal Court and General Sessions Court, respectively. In total, 17 letters have been cited in the allegations, all conveying threats of harm to either the judges or their loved ones, and in some cases, even against former President Trump, as detailed by the Nashville government's official news.
The United States Secret Service has been looped in concerning the threats towards the president, indicating the gravity of the allegations. Being already behind bars, Viryasiri will have the two fresh criminal warrants served to him by deputies of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
