Travelers in Orleans Parish are due for a detour this month as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) have announced significant roadwork on LA 39, including a full closure of the Claiborne Ave. Bridge, also known as the Judge Seeber Bridge. Beginning July 1, at 9 PM and anticipated to end on July 15, at 5 AM, the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic due to scheduled construction activities, weather permitting.
The closure will take place nightly, starting promptly each evening at 9 PM and reopening the following morning at 5 AM. While marine traffic will retain access during these overnight hours, commuters who typically traverse the bridge will need, to make alternative arrangements. The prescribed detour for affected motorists is St Claude Ave, which is expected to handle the redirected traffic flow.
In a statement posted on the DOTD website, officials explained that "Complete closure to vehicular traffic nightly from 9 PM to 5 AM" will be necessary to facilitate the roadwork. Drivers are urged to adjust their itineraries accordingly and to be mindful of construction workers and equipment in the vicinity.
