The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) reported the arrest of Montel Lee in relation to a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Interstate 10. The suspect, identified as a Black male born on May 25, 1996, has been charged with hit and run driving with death, stemming from the tragedy on May 10, where 54-year-old Tiga Bryant lost her life. Details shared by NOPD News state that Bryant was struck by a pickup truck while changing a tire on the side of the road.
During the early evening hours of the incident, NOPD reports that Bryant was at the rear of her truck on Interstate 10 & France Road when she was hit. As per the account, Montel Lee, who was identified by investigators as the driver of this pickup, allegedly left the scene without offering assistance or contacting the authorities. The Orleans Parish Coroner later confirmed Bryant as the victim of the collision.
In a statement to NOPD News, authorities shared that Lee was apprehended by the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad (VOWS) today, following a positive identification of him as the driver involved in the May 10 incident. The arrest took place without incident earlier in the day.
