The New Orleans Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that transpired in the city's Seventh District. According to NOPD News, the incident occurred on Trapier Avenue yesterday afternoon, where officers responded to the 9500 block of Hayne Boulevard following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival at approximately 4:18 p.m., law enforcement found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound. The man was swiftly transported by EMS to a local hospital. An investigatory effort later revealed that the shooting happened in the 8000 block of Trapier Avenue. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead later in the evening. The case, initially a shooting incident, was reclassified as a homicide following the victim's death.
The NOPD's Homicide Section detectives are now in the stages of collecting evidence and information that will lead to the apprehension of the person or persons involved. No suspects have been named, and the motive behind the murder remains unclear. At this point in time, the department has not released any additional details pertaining to the investigation.
